Greek Village Salad (Horiatiki Salata)

A traditional salad that relies on farm fresh ingredients and KOTINOS Extra Virgin Olive Oil. A staple in the Cretan diet, this salad with bread and olives is a wonderful healthy meal.
No matter what the main meal is a salad always takes center stage on the Cretan table. And the salad is always dressed with fresh Olive Oil.

Ingredients:

  • Vine ripe tomatoes
  • Seedless cucumbers
  • Onions
  • Green peppers
  • Sea salt
  • KOTINOS Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Preparation:
Cut the first four ingredients, toss together with salt and liberal amount of olive oil. You may also use some fresh squeezed lemon juice while mixing the salad.
Many variations of this salad are made depending on the fresh ingredients available. You can add feta or goat cheese and dried oregano, or fresh basil leaves and any other herbs like purselane, parsley, chives etc.

Hint: The best part of this salad is the juice at the bottom of the bowl. Use fresh baked bread to dip and enjoy.
